Today, I want to offer something to all of you coffee and/or chocolate fiends out there, who are still in need of caffeine buzz after Iftar. Here is a more balanced and nourishing, and, dare I say, exciting, potion.
It is a wonderful medley of a couple of superfoods: Cacao and Guarana – beautiful caffeine rich brain stimulants, feel good hormone releasers, and cell protectors; and their balancing counterparts – Maca, a wonderous stress hormone balancer and body energizer, and Mesquite, a lovely blood sugar level euqalizer and cell nourisher.
I generally recommed a gradual weaning off of any strong stimulants during Ramadan fast, and this drink is to be used as an effective, albeit temporary alternative, in your transition (hopefully!), from coffee to herbal teas – well, at least during this month.
So, without further ado I give you:
– 1 cup cold or warm almond milk (or any other nut milk) – preferably raw
– 2 TBS raw cacao powder
– 1/2 tsp Maca powder
– 1/4 tsp Mesquite powder
– 1/8 tsp Guarana powder
– 2-3 tsp raw honey or any other sweetener
Blend all ingredients until smooth. Serve immediately and enjoy slowly!
